Washington Told by Feds to Get In Compliance – Again

After a deadly accident, the trucking industry and licensing in the states of Washington, California and New Mexico are under investigation.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that states that do not comply with English proficiency requirements for issuing a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) have 30 days to get into compliance, or face loss of federal funding, Fox reports.
The states of Washington and California issued a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to the illegal alien, Harjinder Singh, who caused the death of 3 people on a Florida highway. Singh was driving a large commercial truck in Florida when he made an illegal U-turn across three lanes of traffic causing the vehicle behind it to slam into the truck.
Washington issued Singh a commercial driver’s license on July 15, 2023, The Oregonian reports. When the Washington license expired, California issued him a new CDL.
In June of this year, the Department of Transportation (DOT) issued a rule that any truck drivers who were not proficient in English would no longer be allowed to drive on American roads, Duffy said.
“This is a safety issue,” Duffy said. “Making sure drivers of very heavy - 80,000-pound rigs can speak the language is truly a critical safety issue.”
Duffy said that Singh was tested at the Florida crash site where it was discovered that he did not speak English and could not understand road signs in English.
The states of Washington, California, and New Mexico have not been in compliance with the requirement that all CDL drivers be proficient in English. An investigation revealed that trucks that were put out of service in other states for failing the language proficiency requirement were reinstated in the three non-compliant states.
Another investigation, conducted by The Oregonian and published in May of this year revealed many other disturbing trends in the licensing of commercial drivers.
A truck driving school with branches in Washington and Oregon was investigated and regulators found that a driving tester was bribed, allowing unqualified drivers to obtain the CDL. The school, “relied on unqualified instructors, falsified records, bypassed English proficiency standards that are mandatory for truckers, and failed to document training hours and students’ skills,” Noelle Crombie writes for The Oregonian.
The CDL exam is conducted entirely in English, yet Singh only answered two out of twelve questions correctly and accurately identified only 1 our of 4 traffic signs when test at the crash site.
Long-time truck drivers say much of this is not new, State and Co Truck Company reports. American truckers have been frustrated for many years as illegal aliens take more driving jobs without meeting the same standards American drivers are required to meet.
“This isn’t just about one truck, one crash, or even one bad driver,” the spokesperson states on YouTube. “It’s about a system being abused, corrupted, and weaponized against the very people who keep this country running. It’s a window into how unsafe, unregulated, and frankly fraudulent parts of our trucking industry have become.”
“Previous admin handed work permits & CDLs to non-citizens, flooding the market and undercutting American truckers,” writes American Truckers on X. “At American Truckers United, we’re praising God for @SecDuffy and @POTUS, who are stepping up for such a time as this. Eternally grateful!”
“Truckers used to be the best drivers on the planet and many still are, but then the blue states started handing out CDL licenses like toys in a cracker jack box,” another X post reads. “Now we have 40-ton battering rams being controlled by dangerously unqualified illegal immigrants! It's time the blue States are held accountable!”
“The entire industry is being hollowed out by foreign drivers who lack training, language skills, and often legal status,” writes Gord McGill for The Blaze.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) extradited Singh back to Florida where he will face justice. Florida will also take action against the company that hired Singh.
“This is an example of how those sanctuary policies spilling over into the rest of the country and in this case, the free state of Florida and yes, there were three people killed by a guy who should have never been in our country, should have never had work authorizations, and certainly should not have been issued two commercial driver’s licenses,” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ( R ) told Fox News.

Democrats Defend Open Border Policies

Democrats have rallied in support of illegal immigrants, often against the best interest of the American citizens they have been elected to represent.
Several Democrat lawmakers in blue states like California and New York are ramping up their demonstrations against the Trump administration’s efforts to deport illegal immigrants, the AP reports.
Democrat elected officials are objecting to detention centers, insisting on oversight authority, and confronting ICE agents. Democrats are trying to turn this into a positive issue for the party as they face the upcoming midterms.
“Democrats are trying to seize the moment with a flurry of proposals on immigration,” writes Stephan Groves for AP.
During the Biden administration, most Democrats sat quietly as the border remained open, and a flood of migrants crossed into the United States. The subsequent violence, crime, disruption and disorder were all largely ignored by Democrats as they continued defending the rights of illegal immigrants over their own constituents.
During the Biden/Harris administration, approximately 5.6 million illegal aliens were released into the country, the American Enterprise Institute reports. Another 1.9 million escaped into the country, avoiding any interaction with immigration authorities.
The institute estimates that 59.4 percent of illegal immigrant households utilize government programs. They are especially dependent on cash assistance, food programs, and Medicaid.
Many migrants receive benefits legally as soon as a child is born in the United States. Once a child is born in the United States, the family becomes eligible for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), AEI reports. The cost estimate for food benefits (SNAP) for the children of illegal immigrants is $5.8 billion.
In addition to government support, illegal aliens also qualify for the child tax credit for any children born in the United States. Illegal alien households received approximately $13.4 billion in tax credits for the 2022 tax year.
Americans continue to bear the burden, often at an incalculable cost…the lost of a loved one.
At the June Oversight Committee hearing on sanctuary policies, Chairman James Comer (R-KY) addressed the cost and consequences of those policies. Comer shared stories of American families who tragically lost a family member at the hands of an illegal immigrant.
“Let me be clear: sanctuary policies don’t protect Americans,” Comer said. “They protect criminal illegal aliens.”
Numerous news reports document Americans tragically murdered by illegal alien criminals who should never have been allowed into the country.
Comer said it is unconscionable that state and local Democrats allow the sanctuary policies that endanger American lives and cost American taxpayers. Comer said the absurdity has risen to the level that Democrats in Congress requested approval for taxpayer funded trips to visit a deported alleged gang member.
It’s absolutely sickening that sanctuary jurisdictions seek to protect these criminals rather than protect Americans,” Comer said. “Despite President Trump’s efforts to secure the border and enforce the law, Democrat-run sanctuary cities and states are siding with illegal aliens!”
“For today’s Democrat Party, it seems unlimited illegal immigration isn’t a failure of policy – it is the policy, and that agenda is being pushed at every level of government,” Comer said.
